During theory, we learned about diets and dietary restrictions . We were challenge to choose one of these diets, cohere for a week and record our experience. I chose Pescetarian, it like vegetarian but I am allowed to eat seafood. This has to be one of the hardest challenges I have ever done. It wasn't the food that was the problem ( okay, maybe it was haha ), it was the transition.
Day 1 Sunday, March 15- It was a lazy day that so I barely ate anything and mostly played video games all day. I ate only an orange for breakfast and lunch but for dinner it is a whole different story. For dinner, I went on date and ate at an all you can eat sushi restaurant called Itamae at Don Mills Rd and Gate way Blvd.
Day 2 Monday, March 16 - I had my food, beverage, and labour cost control class at 2pm so I had time to make lunch ( well a snack ) for myself for school. During that time I made eggplant chips. I seasoned them with paprika, crushed cumin, pepper and a bit of crushed coriander and baked them for 10 mins at 350°F ( I did not know we were doing something similar to this in our concepts class ). I also brought an orange and grapefruit. For dinner, I ate a cabbage soup with rice that my Mom made.
Day 3 Tuesday, March 17- This day I barely ate anything except for during dinner. The reason I barely ate anything was because I was stressing out over my Art of Eat & Dine class quiz and I was stressing over my careers assignment that was due later that day. For dinner, I ate a Shrimp and Opo squash stew with rice.
Day 5 Thursday, March 19- I didn't eat that much that day except 2 oranges ( for the whole day ) and tried Chef Jacheckis food during our demo class.
Day 4 Wednesday, March 18- This is when I failed the challenge. For breakfast, I made a grilled cheese sandwich with spinach and tomatoes. When I took one bite, I basically realized what happen and I couldn't take back my action but that did not stop me from trying to continue it. For lunch, I ate extra pieces of sushi I made in our foods of the world class. For Dinner, I brought home extra trout from class. I marinade it in teriyaki sauce, pan seared it and ate it with rice. ( sadly no picture but it was good )
Day 5 Thursday, March 19- I barely ate that day. I only ate 2 oranges and a bit of the demo food at the end of class that Chef Jachecki made.
Day 6 ( Final day ) Friday, March 20- The last day I ate a Roasted Beet Salad, Baked eggplant, and a Miso soup from my concepts class.
Reflection- I felt bad messing up the challenge but in the end I stuck to the end. I would say variety as an advice to myself. I can't keep eating sushi. I would experiment with food.
Conclusion- I don't think I will continue with this diet. I love seafood and all but I am in a committed relationship with meat. Hopefully there is a protein based diet. I would totally try that for a week.
